Capabilities

STS Steel capabilities are defined by their people, systems, equipment, and financial resources.

People

Competent individuals with at least 15 years of experience hold every leadership position; most have over 25 years experience, and three have professional engineering licenses. Employees are drawn to STS by the integrity of the owners and the challenges offered to them in all positions by the complex level of work. STS people are honest, hard working and thrive on finding solutions to fabrication, erection, and construction challenges.

Systems

STS is AISC quality control certified for complex buildings and complex bridges with endorsements for sophisticated coatings and fracture critical bridgework. These certifications are based on a process control program that requires employees to work within carefully monitored systems for performing every phase of the work. This careful attention to detail is the standard at STS, and it enables competent employees to perform the most critical work in accordance with a variety of different customer requirements.

Equipment

In addition to having most of the automated equipment common to today’s leading structural steel fabricators, heavy lifting capacity and high ceilings help to distinguish STS from their competitors. 75 ton and 50-ton bridge cranes in the same high bay give STS the ability to fabricate large towers, trusses and other weldments that exceed the capability of most structural fabricators. A separate paint building equiped with two 20-ton cranes provides capacity for complex coating applications. STS is also continuing its investment in computerized detailing equipment and training programs for intelligent and motivated people.

Financial Resources

In keeping with the prudent nature of the owners, STS has built a financially sound business through saving and reinvestment. The owners take pride in paying their bills promptly and take comfort in knowing that the absence of debt enables STS to stay competitive in the toughest economic environments.
