AREA ATTRACTIONS
Schenectady is located within the Capital-Saratoga region of
eastern New York State and offers a variety of desirable living,
educational, recreational and entertainment options. Located just three hours North of New York City, West of
Boston and South of Montreal one can take advantage of the opportunities available in a big city without the
day to day hassle and high cost of living. The following a just a few of the many attractions available in the
immediate capital region:
Arts and Entertainment:
Proctor's Theatre in Schenectady, the
Troy Music Hall in Troy, the
Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga and the
Pepsi Arena in Albany are just a few of the venues presenting
nationally acclaimed artists. The Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga is also the summer home to the
NYC ballet and the Philadelphia Orchestra. During the month of August the historic
Saratoga Racetrack attracts visitors from all over the world to
watch the top thoroughbreds compete on one of the countries most beautiful racetracks.
Sports:
In addition to hosting many concerts and special events throughout the year the
Pepsi Arena is home to the Albany Firebirds arena football team and
the A.H.L. affiliate to the New Jersey Devils hockey team. RPI and
Union offer exciting division 1 hockey action while
Siena and the State University of New York
at Albany have basketball and football. This area is also home to some of New York State's most powerful
high school teams.
Outdoor Activities:
Many people are unaware of the beautiful mountains and lakes that cover Northeastern New York which offer great
opportunities for hunting, fishing hiking, biking and water-sports.
With the Adirondack Mountains,
Lake George and Lake Placid to our north there are many
opportunities for outdoor activities year round. Take a look at some of the links we have included which

Education:
The capital region is home to RPI, Union
College, SUNY Albany, Russell-Sage,
Albany College of Pharmacy, Albany Law,
Albany Medical College, Hudson Valley Community
College as well as several private pre college schools such as
Albany Academy, Christian Brothers Academy,
La Salle Institute and
Emma Willard School. This area also has some of the best public elementary, secondary and, high schools in
the state. The educational opportunities in this area are tremendous. When you start looking into relocating
