Taintor Gates at Lock C1 of the Champlain Canal

Six large, curved gates weighing 10 tons each pivot on large arms to regulate the water level on the Hudson river. STS fabricated each gate in one piece then sandblasted and applied a three coat finish prior to shipment. The arms were reconditioned at STS Steel's plant to preserve the historical features of the riveted construction. Installation was performed by the General Contractor, C.D. Perry.
